His 21-yard reception on 3-and-1 in the 2nd quarter helped set up Brandon Jacobs' 8-yard touchdown run. Finished tied for the team lead with 4 catches for 48 yards at Dallas in the NFC Divisional Playoff Game (1/13). He had 22 and 11-yard receptions on consecutive plays on the Giants' 2-minute drive before the half that resulted in Toomer's 4-yard touchdown reception that tied the game 14-14 at halftime. Smith's 11-yard reception on 3rd-and-6 in the 4th quarter extended a drive that resulted in Jacobs' 1-yard touchdown that gave the Giants a 21-17 lead. Smith caught 2 passes for 25 yards in the NFC Championship Game at Green Bay (1/20). He contributed 5 receptions for 50 yards with a long catch of 17 yards in Super Bowl XXLII vs. New England (2/3). Converted two 3rd downs with receptions of 8 and 9 yards on the Giants' 1st drive to help set up a Lawrence Tynes' 32-yard field goal. Smith's 17-yard reception on 3rd-and-4 extended a drive that resulted in David Tyree's 5-yard touchdown. His key 12-yard catch on 3rd-and-11 set up Manning's 13-yard game-winning touchdown pass to Burress. Smith made one of the biggest plays of the Giants' 2007 postseason when he caught a short Eli Manning pass and turned it into a 12-yard gain and a first down on a 3rd-and-11 in the waning moments of Super Bowl XLII. On the next play, Manning threw the 13-yard touchdown pass to Plaxico Burress that gave the Giants their upset victory over New England.

Smith's brother, Malcolm Smith, plays linebacker for the USC Trojans. According to his bio page from the NY Giants, Steve was a Public Policy/Management and Planning major at USC. He was born in Anchorage, Alaska, raised in Canoga Park, California but currently resides in Clifton, New Jersey.
Steve attended a fundraiser for Eastern Christian High School. Participated in the Giants Foundation Golf Outing. He attended the Giants Kickoff Luncheon benefitting St. Vincent's Medical Center. He visited Mt. Sinai Medical Center on Men's Health Day, encouraging all men to get a check-up, and also made a visit to the pediatric wing. Participated in a "Lift Up America" food distribution event. Joined hundreds of Giants fans on the "Cruise with the Champions" trip to the Bahamas, with numerous Giants themed events over the course of the week. He greeted fans at Big Blue Travel's "Giants Wrap-up Breakfast."
